Drawing Sound Machine
Programming, Project management, Communication, Video, Web
Project managed by a 4-students team throughout the second year of IMAC engineering school.
We had to create an interactive installation through which users could draw on a real paper sheet put on a special tablet and trigger mechanical and electronic instruments according to their drawings, their plot speed and pressure as well as the colors used.
The aim was to re-imagine the drawing experience by adding the notion of music in the process. The Drawing Sound Machine was presented to the 2nd edition of the Pulp Festival, and reactions to the installation were quite variable : some drew a specific drawing enjoying the sound it made, while some were trying to make a specific sound and drawing rather randomly according to the instruments activation. The melody resulting in any case was definitely abstract but we managed to get a quite enjoyable combination by according the tone of the different instruments.
I was in charge of the global management and communication of this project, my role was to be the link beteween Philippe Dupuy and our team, check the schedules and equipments, prepare the final presentation of the project and its’ communication.
